at Eastern Michigan University announces an intensive 4-day course in Color Education at Sill Hall on the Ypsilanti, Michigan campus. COLOR TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN will be offered twice in 2001.
The course objective is to provide fundamentals of visual color match evaluation, of color measurement for industrial color control, and of color design principles for product marketing. Teams work in a fully equipped laboratory on projects which demonstrate proper use of lighting, testing of observers, proper terminology for color differences, and determination of tolerances. The teams analyze measurement data of the same industrial samples to study correlation of visual to measured results and also analyze laboratory samples for correct pigment content. Working again in teams, students learn to design for customer profile, determine observer response to color design, and achieve color harmony in the product mix. Each course opens on Day-1 at 9:15 am, followed by 8:30 - 4:30 on Day-2 and Day-3, and concludes Day-4 at 3:30. Nearby overnight accommodations are available. Principle instructor is Adjunct Professor Bill Longley, a color consultant. Other industry instructors are Bob Santine of X-Rite, in color measurement, and Pat Oldenkamp of Eagle-Ottawa Leather, in color design. The fee for the 4-day course is $890 which includes a course-book, continental breakfast and lunch each day, and all class supplies. Enrollment is limited.
