A collection of links to color technology resources on the Web.
Mail lists
The COLORING Digest. This mailing list gathered 270 members... and then became inactive in February 1996, after I started these COLORING Pages for data of a permanent nature, and the newsgroup sci.engr.color for discussions.
CVNet -- the Color and Vision Network. This list has been in existence for 9 years (as of 1996). Many members are visual scientists and experts in Color Vision. You may browse the CVNet archives here, which are part of the Vision Science Virtual Library.
COLORCAT List. Color Categorization List, discussions mostly by Psychologists and Philosophers. To join, send "SUBSCRIBE COLORCAT Your Name" command in the body of a message to LISTSERV@BROWNVM.BROWN.EDU
CoOL -- Conservation On Line. Technologists from museums: conservators and restorers.
Newsgroups
We've seen interesting color discussions in the Usenet newsgroups listed below. Though I proudly recommend that you visit MY baby, sci.engr.color, the best starting place to get answers, is using your browser to search archives at Google's Usenet search at http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search. You can browse and search ALL the archives of sci.eng.color here.
- sci.engr.color -- I started started this newsgroup in February 1996 (see Story and Charter.) I'm happy that a number of highly qualified color specialists participate, answering technical questions beyond my competence!

COLOR VISION
- The Joy of Visual Perception. Pete Kaiser's Web book on human vision. Many large pictures, you'll want a fast modem to see Pete's gift to the color and vision community.
- CVD.ZIP Interactive Color Vision Demonstration. Dr. Hans Irtel's Color Vision Demonstrations. Fascinating and clever programs let you vary the color, using the CIE diagram, to study dozens of psychological experimental diagrams. I loved it!
- The Vision Science Virtual Library, includes the CVNet archives.
- Color Vision Test. Version Français. The site http://www.colorvisiontest.com/ is no longer active, but this surviving commercial describes a CD-ROM and has some color blindness information . Danny Rich had said of the old site: "This page documents several aspects of defective color vision including a CD-ROM version of the famous Ishihara Test plates. It has a good set of simulations of what a "color blind" person "sees" and a reasonable description, if somewhat poor simulation, of the Munsell 100 hue test that now uses only about 83 hues. Check it out and see for yourself."
TUTORIALS AND DISSERTATIONS

ART AND DESIGN
- Carlos' Coloring Book. A real coloring book: color a birthday cake on your monitor. Though geared to children, and agonizingly slow at 14KBPS, the potential will be fascinating to designers!
- Paint simulation program. Change the color of your building or rooms using Wim Eijlders' creation -- Wim is the owner of RIX International and is a frequent contributor to sci.engr.color.
- Jill Morton's COLOR Matters Home Page. Jill's a web site designer, color consultant, and lecturer at the University of Hawaii School of Architecture and Chaminade University of Honolulu. Her home pages are a real treat. And now ... "I think I took on the impossible ... information about computer color written for third graders (and technologically challenged over 30 year olds). See the first link at www.colorcom.com/~colorcom."
